The world is changing! The truth of the matter is that it always has been. What I have observed is that with more advances in technology and with more access, change is more visible by the second.

Over the last seven days, there has been a rebellion take over happening in Libya. One moment there was news reports that Gaddafi’s son was captured, then killed, and in what seemed like mere hours, rebel forces were claiming to have surrounded Gadaffi, himself.

in the same seven days the stock market has gone up, then down, up again, back down again, rallied up, and plunged down. This rollercoaster of changed has been the only constant that analyst could predict.

Lastly, Steve Jobs’ exit from the office of CEO became “the” story in mere seconds. Everyone from Wall street to your street were discussing Apple’s future. Yet, Apple responded in a way that we can all learn from. Apple let us know that they’ve always had a plan, a vision for the future. We (the public) were told that they already have plans for the iphone 6 and the iphone 5 is slated for release in September or October. In addition the ipad 3 is coming just month’s after the ipad 2 was released.

So as I sit here in New York, after enduring my first earthquake and watching Hurricane Irene out my window, I realize that with change comes many firsts. We don’t have to try to reinvent the wheel, but we must be innovative. We must not rest or hold onto the past. We must strive to be better thinkers, doers, lovers, spouses, parents, siblings, etc. We must constantly “update” and become better version of ourselves.Like Apple, we should have a 1,2,3… version.

In a world of smartphones and wifi, stock market changes and hostile takeovers, earthquakes and hurricanes, we must ask ourselves one major question. When the dust settles and storms pass, will we adapt and become updated versions of ourselves that are able to move with the winds of change or… will be become obsolete?
